I don’t have to go far to find inspiration to paint. A look out my window, a walk by some dishes left on the breakfast table, a tangle of plants in the garden – small slices of domestic life catch my eye. These paintings are loosely centered on my life in and around home. I am motivated by the shapes and colors of things I see: a teacup which fades into the blue shadow of a teapot behind it, a shadow reaching toward me across the tabletop, the silhouette of an object against the light, or the shapes on printed fabrics and their interaction with objects placed on top of them. I paint in pastel and oil, and enjoy the complementary ways to build a painting that these two media provide. Whenever possible, I paint from life. My paintings are in the following galleries in Quebec: the Stewart Hall Lending Gallery in Pointe Claire, Galerie Marie Ancelin in Kamouraska, and Galerie La Palette in Beaconsfield.
