Nathalie Trépanier has been involved in the Montreal artistic community for several years. She studied acting at the Conservatoire de Montreal from 1988 until 1991. From an acting career, she transitioned to the field of Theatre Design. She has designed several plays produced by théâtre le clou. In 2005, her set design in the play La vraie vie est ailleurs, which had been directed by Martin Faucher and Sylvain Scott, earned her a nomination at the gala des masques.
In addition to her career within the theatre world, Nathalie has expanded her artistic touch to creating sculptures. Through the years, Nathalie has worked with many different mediums. This diversity shows itself through, amongst others, her ceramics figurines and her fanciful creations, such as a folk art fisherman or a duck. These last were derived by a mixed medium art style of assembling together local driftwood and other reclaimed materials.
After working with Patrick Amiot, a renowned urban folk artist, her artistic expression has shifted towards her current work with recycled materials. This art form has, to date, led to the creation of sculptures, lamps and furniture. She continues to draw influence from Patrick Amiot through her regular visits to his California studio to work with him.
