Lachine-born artist, Martha Markowsky, an elected member of the Canadian Society of Artists, was awarded in 2008 le Fils de l'Excellence by the City of Lachine for her achievements in art. She is best known for her paintings of symphonies, children in nostalgic backyards playing games, bar room scenes along with the landscapes of Charlevoix and other regions of Quebec. Martha's paintings can be found in numerous private and corporate collections, nationally and internationally.
