Jane Heller is a photographer who lives and works in Montreal. Her approach to photography is influenced by her background as a graphic designer and relies on a minimalist compositional approach, using only the most basic elements to visually convey the essence of her subject matter. Combining formal composition with saturated tones and a quiet restraint, her photography allows us into the lives of her subjects without being invasive or voyeuristic. Her carefully constructed tableaux are compelling for their formal strengths as well as the sense of grace evoked within each individual image or scene.
Jane Heller's love of adventure has taken her to more than twenty different countries, each one inspiring her to capture the rich textures of her surroundings and the people that inhabit them in a unique manner. Jane’s work is profoundly humanistic, delicate, and obsessed with capturing the fleeting moments that would normally pass unnoticed, but transformed into the visually remarkable.
