“The events in our lives happen in a sequence in time but in their significance to us, they find their own order. It is a continuous thread of revelation.” (paraphrased)
Eudora Welty
After graduating from Concordia University with Distinction in Fine Arts in 1993, Coleen continued on to McGill in the Department of Education. She has since been involved in the educational world and has taken part on a personal level in various exhibitions and private shows over the years.
The most recent exhibitions have been “Expressions of Faith” in both 2006 and 2007.
Coleen’s favoured mediums are oil paint on canvas and reclaimed articles for sculptural purposes.
This collaborative effort of “Mantle and Muse” with Janice Poltrick-Donato has been a few years in the making. As Coleen remarks, “We have been considering what inspires and challenges us as two very different artists. Therefore the mantle is what covers us and brings us peace and security, a little more focused on our walk of faith. The muse breathes in questions, concerns, dreams and aspirations to challenge us forward. The metaphor we have used is that of nature.”
